Jim Walter Resources
Jim Walter Resources (JWR) is the southernmost Appalachian coal producer in America. JWR was est. in 1977 and produces high quality coal from Alabama's Blue Creek seam. Since inception, JWR has grown from a small producer of coal to one of the 25 largest coal producers in the United States. JWR is a subsidiary of Walter Energy which is the world's leading "pure play" metallurgical coal producer for the global steel industry and has strategic access to high-growth steel markets in Asia, South America and Europe. Walter Energy had 2010 revenues of approximately $2.3 billion and employs approximately 4,400 employees and contractors at operations in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom.

In 1884, Herbert Westervelt began a career in the paper industry, developing Prairie States Paper Corporation, now known as The Westervelt Company.
